The consortium that is responsible for the construction of the entrance of the Gotthard Tunnel on the north side is AGN Murer Strabag. In 2002 AGN Murer Strabag opted for a central system to record all information electronically. The system had to be reliable, easy to use and capable of storing many different types of data. Furthermore, it must satisfy the standards defined under GDPdU (Grundsätze zum Datenzugriff und zur Prüfbarkeit digitaler Unterlagen). The choice was for CORSA.

The Gotthard tunnel consists in total of 57 km's of railway track. The project started in 2002. According to the planning the drilling of the tunnel will be completed in 2011. Then 4 to 5 years will still be needed for the installation of the railway tracks and emergency provisions. It is expected that the first train will ride in 2016. The north side consortium of the Gotthard tunnel has opted for CORSA.

The project organisation has chosen for a web interface to search in the CORSA environment. This has a number of clear advantages. It is a simple interface that can be operated by many different users. Its implementation within the organization is also much simpler; it is not necessary to install CORSA on every PC now that access to the system can be gained via the web.

Although the organization introduced CORSA at an early stage, a small amount of catching up was necessary. The backlog was scanned, so that now all information from the start of the project has been stored in the system. If at the end of the construction activities the various parties again go their own ways, the paper documentation will become fragmented and difficult to keep track of. Because all information has been stored digitally in CORSA, AGN Murer Strabag has secured this information in a unique knowledge data bank.
