The selection process for a new invoice registration system took around 2 to 3 months, and there were three different suppliers. CORSA was selected because of its extensive integration capabilities with the Polynorm I/2 ERP system and the connection with DocumentProfiler, which would enable the conversion of historical data.

The ASCII file that is generated by the ERP system forms the basis for the data that is processed by an external service agency. But because all invoices are produced and sent externally, Otto Fischer AG does not have the invoice information available internally. Therefore the same file is processed internally using DocumentProfiler, a tool that was developed by StratOz. Using DocumentProfiler the data in PDF files are read, interpreted and registered in CORSA.

Max Bürgi, ICT manager at Otto Fischer AG, recalls: “The fact that Corsa makes use of open database indexing was one of the main reasons to switch over. CORSA is a modern system that functions perfectly in an open, heterogeneous environment. For instance, something that was not possible before, but is now possible with CORSA, is the use of selections. For example, the selection of all invoices of 10 years or older. That was impossible with our old index; that simply couldn't find them.”

For its warehouse Otto Fischer AG make use of the I/2 warehouse management system from Polynorm, our software supplier. This system is developed in Progress.

All in all the conversion to CORSA within Otto Fischer AG has taken place reasonably efficiently. On the one hand the result is a much more reliable system for the registration of invoice information and on the other a much easier way of processing.
